Dahlia Pink Runner
Product Description
Dahlia 'Pink Runner'
Just like it’s relative, Salmon Runner, it produces lots of tubers and gives you lots of blooms all season long. Pink Runner starts out the season more on the pink color side, then moves to a coral pink as the season goes on.

Harvesting/Vase Life:
Cut when blooms are ¾ of the way open, but not overly ripe. To do this, check the back of each flower head, looking for firm and lush petals versus papery or slightly dehydrated ones. Place into water with hydrator, or sear stem ends by placing into 160-180° water and allow to cool for 1 hour. Blooms will last 5-6 days.
HOW TO GROW
If you are not able to plant the tubers upon arrival, store in a cool, dry, dark location
Dahlias are cold-sensitive and should not be planted until the soil has warmed to above 15°C and all danger of frost has passed.
Select a sunny garden spot with freely draining soil, and prepare it thoroughly before planting. Amend beds with 2 to 4 inches of high-quality compost or well-rotted manure, a light dusting of bone meal, and a balanced organic fertilizer. Mix all ingredients into the soil to distribute evenly.
To plant, dig a hole 4 to 6 inches deep and place the tuber on its side, horizontally, with the growing eye facing up. Once in place, refill the hole with soil. Dahlias get quite large, so allow at least 12 to 18 inches of space between plants.
Dahlias should not be watered until you see the first green shoots poking through the ground; overwatering before shoots are visible can lead to tuber rot.
After plants reach 1 foot tall, give them a hard pinch by snipping out 3 to 4 inches of the growing center to encourage low basal branching, which increases flower production and overall stem length.
By mid-summer, you’ll need to stake tall plants to keep them from falling over. For home gardeners with just a few plants, place tall, sturdy posts next to tubers at planting time so you can tie stems to them as they grow.
While dahlias are not terribly long-lasting cut flowers, you can get 5 to 7 days from stems cut at the proper stage. Since dahlias don't open much after they’ve been harvested, it’s important to pick them almost fully open, but not overly ripe. Check the back of each flower head, looking for firm and lush petals; papery or slightly dehydrated petals are a sign of age. Be sure to use floral preservative in the water.
DAHLIA POLICY
H&H Floral Fields only sells their own farm grown tubers. Our Dahlias are sold as single tubers and guaranteed to have at least one eye. It may take some time for the eye to appear and "wake up" as we store our tubers at cool temperatures and they may still be dormant upon shipping. If any tubers are deemed to be unfit upon shipping time, you will be fully refunded for that tuber. We cannot make changes to orders once they are place.
We have strict policies and procedures in place while dividing our tubers in the fall to ensure we are only delivering healthy tubers to you. We cannot be held responsible for the health of tubers once they have been stored and/or planted by customers. You will receive detailed planting and care instructions with your order, please follow them carefully. There are many factors which may affect tuber performance such as weather, soil, pests and other environmental factors.
Our dahlia return policy falls under our general "Return Policy" as outlined here. Exceptions to this policy will only be made (on a case-by-case basis) in rare situations in which you may have received a broken or diseased tuber. If you receive a broken or diseased tuber, please email a picture to info@hhfloralfields.com within 7 days of receipt. Once your picture has been reviewed, we will email you back to let you know if your claim has been approved or denied. Upon an approved claim we will ship out a replacement tuber of the same variety. If said variety is no longer available, we will ship out a new variety of your choosing or fully refund your purchase (your choice). Shipping will only be refunded in cases where the damaged/unhealthy tuber was the only tuber purchased. If multiple tubers were part of the purchase, the shipping cost will not be refunded.
You can review our full return policy here.
